Crofton Court has a lovely, welcoming feel to it. It is very peaceful, light and airy. Visitors often say that it’s not like a Care Home: it’s a home!
Person-centred care is at the heart of our working ethos. Staff interact with residents in a polite but friendly manner. They get to know the things they like and don’t like, as well as their little quirks. The staff are always cheery and good humoured, and that rubs off on the residents. It’s fair to say that we really are one big happy family!
We work hard to ensure that the residents are given opportunities to be as physically and mentally active as they wish to be.
We have a big focus on music, with regular visits from entertainers who play the type of music that our residents like, so we can get them singing and dancing. This is particularly good for those with dementia. We have excellent links with Mind Active – they organise activities here, and our residents go to their social events in the town. Local primary school choirs often come to us. The latest project is focusing on Old Blyth – again good for our dementia residents. A local church holds regular services here, and a group comes in to read bible stories, usually followed up by a related film.
In short, our residents our very busy! However, some of them do like to watch TV, so we have two lounges: one with and one without a TV.
Crofton Court Care Home is situated in Blyth, Northumberland. It is in the town centre, next to the Community Hospital. There is easy access to shops and cafés, the library and community centres. There are also very good public transport links. Blyth port is five minutes walk away.
Akari Care is a family of Residential Care Homes spread across the UK, with the largest concentration of homes in the north-east. We choose the word ‘family’ with good reason, because in many ways it epitomises our values. Each Care Home we view as an extended family, bringing together residents and their families, our colleagues in care, clinicians, hairdressers, commissioners and CQC regulators, members of the local community – the list goes on. In this way, we are able to create a warm and inclusive environment in which our residents can feel a real sense of security and belonging, while at the same time retaining their dignity and self-respect.
We never compromise on the quality of our services, nor would you expect us to. Our extended team includes trusted GPs, Dentists, Chiropodists and Dieticians, who all work hard to improve our residents’ quality of life. Our dementia Care Homes have qualified, dedicated staff who help people to maintain their identity and dignity. With a focus on living life to the fullest, our homes offer activities such as hairdressing salons, bars, cinemas, gardening, and cooking courses to name just a few!
We have a dedicated and caring staff, a homely and friendly atmosphere, and high standards of cleanliness and care.
The central focus of everything we do is the wellbeing of our residents, to ensure that they remain physically and mentally active, are fulfilled and happy, and feel cared for and, loved as part of the Bridge View family.
We’d love to hear from you as we look for people that share our passion for providing the best care for our residents. Why not apply for one of the above jobs or call us for more information about the role.
